Olympic Hot Springs
Unmaintained hot-water seeps lie in the Elwha Valley wilderness. Reaching them is a backcountry outing rather than a drive-up resort visit.
A resort pool and a backcountry soak can mean very different days. Compare the approach and current access notes at Sol Duc, Olympic, Goldmyer and Carson. Road restrictions, required bookings and age policies matter as much as the water itself.
Choose the approach before the pool. Washington’s developed resort sessions, permitted preserve visits and unmaintained wilderness springs have different road, trail, booking and age constraints.
A developed pool session inside Olympic National Park
Seasonal pool admission and park entry are separate. Verify the posted fall closing date and selected session.

A prepared backcountry outing
Vehicle access stops at Madison Falls, adding a substantial road/trail approach. Pools are unmaintained, untreated and untested.
Vehicle access restricted at Madison Falls; backcountry approach
A small managed wilderness preserve
Daily permits, road suitability and a five-mile approach each way matter. A walk-in attempt can be turned away.
A developed bathhouse and mineral-therapy pool
Bathhouse/spa services are restricted to adults. Check which pool or service the booking covers.
The Olympic road closure changes the walk from the old trailhead; do not calculate the outing using an old short-trail description. Sol Duc is a developed, seasonal resort product with its own timetable. Neither choice establishes the availability of the other.

Goldmyer’s current access report specifies vehicle clearance and a final five-mile hike or mountain bike ride. Reserve permitted access, then check road, weather and the equipment needed for the route. Carrying a permit does not make a low-clearance vehicle suitable.
No. Vehicle access is restricted at Madison Falls, and the natural pools are reached by a backcountry approach. Sol Duc sells developed resort-pool sessions on its own seasonal calendar.

No. The operator limits total daily visitors and says walk-ins may be turned away. A purchased permit is the way to guarantee access within the stated capacity.
