Wild spring or thermal spa?

Choose the setting, permission and facilities that fit the visit.

Start with three questions: can your group reach it, may everyone enter, and what does the ticket actually include? The setting is useful context, but it does not answer those questions by itself.

For a staffed pool visit

A developed bath can provide a reception point and bookable or walk-in admission. Ouray is a town mineral-pool complex. Radium has separate hot and cool pools. The Springs at Idaho City requires reservations. Choose the purchase and arrival arrangement you can use; developed does not automatically mean child-eligible or step-free.

For a natural setting

Goldmyer is a managed preserve with permits and a long final approach. Kirkham has riverside pools reached by stairs and a recorded day-use charge. Hot Springs Cove requires boat or air access before its boardwalk. Natural describes the setting, not free entry or a simple walk.

For a resort stay

Mount Princeton offers public passes as well as accommodation, while Summer Lake requires an overnight stay. A room, a spa appointment and a private bath can include different access. Find an explicit admission product before comparing the cost of two properties.

Hot water is not automatically a bathing place

Yellowstone prohibits soaking in its hot springs. Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas directs bathing to two bathhouses and has no outdoor soaking opportunities. Follow the authority for the named place; a geothermal feature on a map is not an invitation to enter.

Questions before you go.

Does wild mean free?

No. Kirkham has a recorded day-use charge, and Goldmyer is a permitted managed preserve. Setting and admission are separate fields; an unknown fee is not a free ticket.

Published source checks describe what we could verify on those dates. Confirm the intended session, total price and current access directly before booking or setting out.
