START FROM SEATTLE

Hot springs near Seattle.

A Seattle search brings together very different outings: Goldmyer is a permit-managed wilderness visit with a hike; Sol Duc offers seasonal resort-pool sessions; Olympic Hot Springs has a road-washout approach and untreated natural pools. None is a simple downtown soak. Compare the actual route, season and access conditions before considering price or straight-line proximity.

Goldmyer Hot SpringsWashington · Wild & natural≈45 mi / 72 kmStraight line, not drivingA wilderness visit that needs a permit and trail planning

The operator’s October 21 access report calls for AWD/4WD with 8–9 inches of clearance to reach the trailhead, then a five-mile hike or bike approach each way. Permits guarantee access; walk-ins can be turned away. Do not confuse the overview pin with a drivable entrance.

Olympic Hot SpringsWashington · Wild & natural≈68 mi / 110 kmStraight line, not drivingA restricted-access backcountry option, not a casual resort alternative

NPS closes the road to vehicles at Madison Falls. Its trail report adds about eight miles to Boulder Creek trailhead, then 2.4 miles on foot; bicycles stop at the trailhead. Natural pools are untreated and untested. This is a long wilderness approach, with no visitor facilities beyond the road gate.

Paid entryFacility restrictions

Olympic National Park entrance: USD 30 per private vehicle or USD 15 per pedestrian/cyclist age 16+, valid seven days. An eligible park pass can cover entrance. No separate bathing tariff is published on the reviewed hot-springs page.

A wilderness permit is needed for overnight camping.

Make the plan fit the place.

Start with access rather than the nearest pin

Goldmyer’s rough road ends before the property, with a five-mile trail approach still required. Olympic Hot Springs has a separate vehicle restriction at Madison Falls. These are not equivalent road-to-pool visits. Assess the complete route, equipment and current official notices; the map shows approximate venue positions and does not route around damaged roads or across the peninsula.

Separate park admission, pool sessions and wilderness access

Sol Duc sells timed pool sessions during its operating season, while Olympic National Park has a separate entrance policy. Olympic Hot Springs is a natural backcountry destination, not the resort’s mineral-pool complex. Goldmyer limits daily visitors and uses permits. Choose the intended place before buying any ticket or making accommodation plans.

Before booking or setting off

Check the exact bath, total ticket cost, age policy and current operating notice. Map positions are venue overviews, not surveyed entrances. No driving time is estimated here. Follow official directions for the final road or trail approach.

Questions before you go.

Can I drive directly to Goldmyer’s pools?

No. The operator says visitors must hike or mountain bike the last five miles. Its October 21, 2026 report also requires a high-clearance AWD/4WD vehicle for the trailhead road. Recheck that report before travelling because conditions change.

Are Olympic Hot Springs and Sol Duc the same place?

No. Sol Duc is a seasonal developed resort-pool complex with timed admission. Olympic Hot Springs is a separate natural-pool destination affected by Elwha road damage. Their fees, approach and facilities must be planned separately.

Does Sol Duc operate throughout winter?

Do not assume year-round pool operation. The fall schedule reviewed here runs to noon on November 1. Confirm current seasonal dates directly with the resort before booking a journey.
